VISITORS will soon be able to read all about fascinating local history and activities at Winsford Town Park.

A new community noticeboard is being installed by Winsford Town Council at the Dingle Lane entrance.

The idea has been welcomed by the Friends of Winsford Town Park, whose volunteers give up their time to keep the area clean and tidy as well as planting flowers and bulbs.

John Malam, the group's chairman, said: "The information panel on it will explain a little about the park’s story, from the Dene Brook which flows underground the length of the park, to the planting scheme and sculptures, together with some of the dialect words used to describe the park, such as clough, dingle, and drumber."

John has designed some artwork for the new board.

Residents are now being asked which colour the board should be - burgundy or green?

Residents can look forward to seeing some colour brightening up the area as they enjoy a walk with their children and dogs.

“The park is starting to come to life, with the first of the spring bulbs coming into flower," said John.

"Once lockdown is over, the Friends will resume their activities to help keep the park looking good. We’re also delighted to announce the Friends are purchasing a new bench to be located in a quiet area by one of the ponds. It’s to be known as the Friendship Bench."

Winsford Town Council would like to know what sort of information people would like to see on the new communuity noticeboard.

People can have their say and choose which of the two colours, green or burgundy, they prefer on the council’s Facebook page or email mail@winsford.gov.uk.
