CHILDREN are being encouraged to paint a poppy on a pebble to remember our war heroes.
Children's entertainer Jackie Latham, from Middlewich, has been overwhelmed by the response to her idea.
"As Remembrance parades are cancelled this year, I thought it would be a nice if children and adults painted a poppy on a pebble and left it around the town," said Jackie, who runs Middlewich Parties and Events.

"The idea has really taken off. There must be a couple of thousand now. The names of those we remember who gave the ultimate sacrifice could be painted on the pebbles too.
"If people can't get out they could put them in their own gardens to honour and respect the fallen."
