THE Queen has praised a Winsford school for providing a lifeline to the local community during the coronavirus pandemic.

Staff and pupils at Darnhall Primary School were delighted to receive a letter from Her Majesty.

Teacher Jenny Edwards said: "I wrote to the Queen to tell her how we have been delivering food parcels and play packages to everyone.

The Queen wrote to Darnhall Primary School saying she was pleased to hear how the school was supporting the community during the pandemic

"I felt a sense of pride about Darnhall and our community going above and beyond. I wanted her to know what us little people are doing at this time of stress.

"I was really surprised to get a reply so soon. I thought she'd be inundated with letters. She is a total icon."

In the letter, the Queen said she was glad to hear of some of the many activities that have been undertaken and pleased to know that so many young people have been assisted at this difficult time.
