Staff and visitors can't wait to return to Lakeside Holiday Park in Winsford

Staff at Lakeside Caravan Park are delighted to be reopening on Saturday after being closed for almost four months during the coronavirus pandemic.

David Thornley, managing director and owner of Lakeside Caravan Park, said: "Our staff are so excited and have missed the workplace. All our full time staff are back in place and some seasonal workers.

"We've been inundated with phone calls and messages from our customers who are also really excited to be coming back."

Stringent new health and safety regulations must now be followed to ensure everyone is kept safe.

"We have spent between £10,000 and £15,000 during the last two weeks on personal protective equipment," said Mr Thornley, whose company Thornley Leisure Parks provides holiday accommodation across Cheshire, North Yorkshire and Wales.

"We have placed signage on floors, reviewed our cleaning operations which were already of a good standard, and carried out extensive health and safety risk assessments.

"The most important thing is to look after our staff and customers."

Stringent new health and safety regulations must be followed at Lakeside Caravan Park to ensure everyone is kept safe

New check in and handover procedures and are being introduced and hand sanitisers will be fitted at the entrance and refuse facilities.

"We will be asking customers to take linen off and put it into yellow bags so we don't have to touch it," said Mr Thornley. "Where possible we will request caravans be left ventilated to get a through flow of air.

"We will stagger our rentals so there is a day in between caravan usage to allow time for a deep clean."

Most of the caravans at Lakeside are owner occupied and some residents were given special permission to remain during lockdown due to exceptional circumstances as they were unable to return to their homes.

Holidaymakers can now book seven caravans available for rental.

The bar will be reopening on Saturday, July 11 but the launderette will remain closed for now.

"We want to encourage our customers to support local businesses, restaurants, pubs and tourist attractions," said Mr Thornley. "We see ourselves as part of the local community."
