AS a motorcyclist of 45 years and an avid supporter of motorcycle shows I was disappointed with the decision to object to the planned parade for classic bikes and cars as part of the Northwich Festival.

I have supported the Thundersprint in the past and I guess made a contribution to it through my council tax in the monies paid to the organisation to attract it to Northwich.

Clearly copyright rightly applies to specific names but I find it hard to see how a parade of vehicles through the town can be deemed as copyright?

Not knowing what, if any conversations have taken place between the festival organisers and Mr Frank Melling, it’s sad that an activity that would have given pleasure to many people is stopped via communication through attorneys.

I know that the gathering of vehicles will be a success in any case and will attract people to see them.

What a shame that the vehicles won’t be seen in the environment they were designed for ie, with engines running on the road.

The gathering of motorcycles that took place on July 25 at Witton Albion’s ground saw over 500 riders from all over the north west come together to just admire and display over 500 bikes just for the love of them.
