JACOB Brown was a race-winner in Vale Royal Athletics Club colours at Saturday’s opening British Milers’ Club Grand Prix of the season at Stretford.
The 17-year-old was the youngest runner in the men’s 800m E race, edging James McNally (Liverpool Harriers) and Jonathan Currie on the line in 1:54.26.
Clubmate Katie Gerrard made a promising start to her track campaign, clocking a personal best 4:30.45 on her way to third spot in the women’s 1,500m B race.
Amy Hinchly was fourth in 4:31.96, a significant improvement on her maiden outing of the year for the distance at the same venue the previous week.
Vale Royal’s Andrew Miles was sixth in the men’s 800m F race.
