NORTHWICH Rowing Club’s successful ‘Learn 2 Row’ scheme continued to flourish as a host of golds at Warrington Regatta on Saturday extended their recent winning streak.

Emma Roberts, Amelia Berry and Abi Davies won the women’s J15 coxed quad final contested by two Northwich boats.

Jack Radford and James Cole added a second successive open novice double scull victory, following a win at Burton last month in their first ever race.

The men’s IM2 coxed four took gold in the Invitational Open after beating Warrington RC in the final by more than four lengths.

Ellie Briegal coxed a crew of Sam Coverley, Stewart Plant, Phil Hewitt and John Johnson – a graduate of the Learn 2 Row scheme in March.

Northwich’s Clare Briegal teamed up with Janet Vorberg of Grosvenor RC to claim the women’s Masters B/D double scull gold.

Johnson, Aaron Hiscox, Sam Coverley, club captain Phil Hewitt, Stewart Plant, Andy Kelsell, Nick Parkes and Adam Webster, coxed by Jonty Moores, took gold in the flagship event of the day, the IM3 coxed eights, at Bewdley Regatta a week previous.

Northwich beat Warrick RC by three lengths in the final, having defeated the University of Manchester BC and Royal Chester in earlier rounds.

Webster and Sam Coverley took gold in the IM3 coxless pairs, completing a two-length win over Birmingham RC in the final.

Emma Winsor, Dee Ashmore, Caroline Paterson and Jenny Jones led the women’s IM3 coxed fours for two rounds before a semi final defeat to Agecroft.

“It’s fantastic to see our senior squads performing so well at a top regional regatta,” said club captain Hewitt.

“The fact that most of the squad have come from our successful ‘Learn 2 Row’ programme is a great testament to the ongoing development at Northwich Rowing Club.”
