CONTROVERSIAL plans for a gipsy and traveller site off Barlow Drive, in Winsford, have been given the go-ahead.
Cheshire West and Chester Council’s strategic planning committee voted in favour of plans at a meeting held at Wyvern House last night, despite strong opposition from residents, business leaders and Winsford Town Council.
The decision prompted outrage from residents after only one member of the public was allowed to speak at the meeting.
Clr Mike Jones, leader of Cheshire West and Chester Council, spoke in favour of the plans.
Four members of the committee, including Clr Don Beckett and Clr Brian Clarke, voted against the plans, while five members voted in favour.
