A SELF-funded autism and ADHD support group in Winsford is looking for sponsorships from businesses and a permanent venue to hold meetings and events.

One Step at a Time North West LTD, is a support group started by Gabriella Della-Roccha looks to support families with children who have autism or ADHD.

Gabriella said: “I created this group to help families like myself who have children with autism and ADHD.

“We are a self-funded group with minimal funding, and if I'm honest we're struggling.

“I feel so passionately about helping families however without funding or a permanent venue it's difficult.

“I work 24-7 for free, using time, petrol and money to give in to this group it is costing me and as I'm a full-time carer myself, it's hard.”

The group has weekly meetings in the Winsford lifestyle centre from 12.15pm on Thursdays.

During the school holidays these meetings were catered towards supporting the children but they are now looking to support carers and parents as well.

The group regularly has guest speakers from organisations such as have people in to talk to families such as new leaf, carers trust and max card.

The group recently held two big events.

Gabriella said: “We held a birthday party as my daughter turned 8, for those who are left out and never get invited to parties.

“The following week we had an end of summer day which involved a lady coming along from 'animals take over' to show the children lots of animals from snakes, to frogs.

“The event was great however as the space was small it got too loud and was not autism friendly, we are hoping to find a suitable venue soon but we are very grateful for the help brio have given us so far.”
