AN APPLICATION has been submitted to convert an office in Winsford near the town council building to a home.
Wyvern Lodge, also known as The Caretaker’s Lodge and situated opposite Wyvern House in The Drumber, is awaiting the decision from Cheshire West and Chester Council to approve the change of usage for the building.
The request has been entered by Ms. Janet Lawton, who works for City West Housing Trust in Eccles according to council documentation.
In the report, it said: “The accommodation was originally built as a house and City West Housing Trust, in partnership with CWaC propose the conversion back to be used as accommodation.
“The provision would be for people who are homeless and in need of temporary accommodation with support provided to assist them to live independently and ultimately move on to permanent accommodation.”
Plans include using the three ‘bedrooms’ and converting the ‘front lounge’ into a fourth. Each resident will share the lounge kitchen and bathroom facilities.
The property was originally built to serve as accommodation for a residential caretaker however, in 2010, this was changed and the building became an office space for a team from CWaC.
The workers have found a suitable place to relocate so that the work may commence once approval is granted.
