HUNDREDS are gearing up for this year’s festival which sees part of Delamere Street closed off to bring the community together.

The Delamere Street Festival, or Dfest as it is commonly known, returns to Winsford on Saturday, June 23.

Vicar George Crowder, from St John’s Church Over, said: “In place of speeding cars will be a street market of local charities, with everything from a hair braiding stall to a bouncy castle. Everyone can have a fun, affordable day out and support brilliant local charities and good causes.

“St John’s Church is very grateful for the support of Winsford Town Council and Cheshire West and Cheshire for their kind support for this event.”

Primary school children will open the festival with a parade led by Cheshire Constabulary Corps of Drums and Cllr Gina Lewis, the Mayor of Winsford.

Singers and dancers will bring the street to life from the main stage while choirs will lift their voices in the stunning acoustic space that is St John’s church building.

Residents will also have the chance to sample a mouth-watering hog roast, street food from Rango’s, and craft ales from award winning Chapter Brewing.
