A WOMAN who has used art to pick herself up from a personal setback is looking for support to help others explore their creative side.

Stacey Jones, from Winsford, wants to set up a studio to give mid Cheshire residents of all ages the chance to develop their art skills and express themselves.

The 26-year-old is currently studying an art and design course at Warrington and Vale Royal College – her third college course, having also studied communications and acting.

Her CV also boasts past roles working in telesales, retail and cleaning, but Stacey believes she has found a home in art – and now she wants to help others do the same.

"Art is something anybody can do," Stacey told the Guardian.

"People of all ages from toddlers to those in their 90s, people with disabilities or mental health problems – it doesn't just benefit one group of people, it can benefit anybody."

Stacey knows from her own experience that being able to express yourself through art can have a positive impact.

After being told by doctors that she was unlikely to be able to conceive Stacey's confidence took a knock, but her artwork has given her a new focus.

She said: "I was told that I might not be able to conceive as I have a low amount of the hormone progesterone.

"I had based my career options around having a family so I needed to focus on something I wanted to do for myself."

Stacey has had good feedback on her idea from members of community Facebook pages, and now she is looking to get enough support and funding to make her dream a reality.

She added: "Each person has their own worries in life – to be able to go somewhere to relieve that is one of the best things about art."
