A NEW junior mayor for Winsford was 'invested' at a special ceremony at Willow Wood Community Primary School on Thursday, July 20.
Marci Felton, nine, received the robes and chain from town mayor Cllr Mike Kennedy in front of many of her admiring classmates.
Marci was chosen to be junior mayor from more than 60 applications considered by Cllr Kennedy and mayoress Hillary Kennedy. In her letter, Marci said that she wanted to help the mayor in carrying out his duties and help people in the town.
Cllr Kennedy said: “It was a great little ceremony. We always try to make it as authentic as possible so that the youngsters can see what happens at a real mayor making ceremony. Marci really looked the part and I’m sure she will prove to be a great junior ambassador for Winsford.
“The mayoress and I were very impressed by Marci saying that she would be available after school and at weekends.”
Susan Tomlinson, head teacher at Willow Wood, said: “It’s an honour for a youngster from our school to be chosen as junior mayor. Marci is very excited and we look forward to supporting her in her role.”
