STAR WARS came to Winsford’s Over Allotments on Friday, when children from the town’s schools had their annual visit to the 'Secret Garden'.
Children enjoyed guided tours of the allotments site, seeing at first hand how fruit and vegetables are grown.
Their scarecrows were judged by the town mayor Cllr Mike Kennedy and Mayoress Hilary Kennedy, and the winner of the mayor’s shield for best scarecrow will be announced at the allotments public open day on Saturday, July 15.
“Every year we ask children to make and bring scarecrows,” said John Malam, the event organiser.
“We always choose a theme that will appeal to them, and as this year is the fortieth anniversary of the release of the first Star Wars movie, we asked them to make Star Wars themed scarecrows.”
