SUNRISE before and after school club in Wharton has been given a Good Ofsted rating after an inspection in December.

Inspectors hailed the managers and trustees at the Willow Wood Primary School-based club for ‘placing children’s enjoyment and well-being at the heart of their plans for improvement’.

The club in Bradbury Road opened in 2012 and is run by two members of childcare staff.

Sunrise retained its Good rating, last issued in 2013, from the education regulator and was given positive feedback from the inspector.

An Ofsted inspector visited the club on December 14 and observed the quality of pratitioners’ interactions with children during indoor and outdoor activities, as well as checking suitability of staff and speaking to parents about their views.

Inspector Susan King said in her report: “All practitioners understand how children learn. They provide just the amount of choice and support for children who are ready to play and relax after a busy day at school.

“Practitioners work in partnership with school and seek out information about children’s interests. This helps practitioners to offer activities that children are keen to do and help to promote their learning.”
