WINSFORD Lifestyle Centre is set to undergo a £200,000 makeover to improve the range of services on site, and to support more fitness classes in the town.

The Brio Leisure-run facility, which first opened in 2009 at a cost of £10.9 million, is being re-modelled to provide additional space for members and equipment.

The first floor function room is being converted into a new health and fitness studio, to boost the number of daily classes on offer, and the spin cycling studio is being extended along with the purchase of new ‘top-of-the-range’ bikes.

Elly McFahn, Brio Leisure managing director, said: “This is a wonderful Christmas and New Year present for everyone who uses the centre. The refurbishments will add the extra space we need and will also improve the work out environment for our customers.

“One of the most popular features since the centre opened has been the range of fitness classes on offer. They are hugely popular across all age ranges and we’re responding to that demand and adding an additional 25 classes to the existing timetable.”

Cllr David Armstrong, Cheshire West and Chester Council’s cabinet member for legal and finance, said he was delighted to see “such an outstanding investment in Winsford”.

He said: “This shows the council’s commitment to Winsford residents. Winsford Lifestyle Centre has established itself as a focal point of community life. It provides an accessible and welcoming meeting place for all ages together with state of the art facilities for everyone who sees the value in keeping active and healthy.”

Works are scheduled to be completed by the end of the year, during which time the centre will operate as normal. Some classes will be re-located to other parts of the building for safety purposes.

Julie Kirkham, Brio Leisure’s facility manager at the Lifestyle Centre, said: “We can’t wait to see the new space put to good use. Demand for new, exciting classes is ever present and we have some really special events planned for the future.

“The spinning classes in particular are always popular so it’s fantastic that we can now offer even more opportunities, space and new equipment.”
