MORRISONS in Winsford has appointed an in-store ‘strong-person’ to help customers carry their shopping during Black Friday.

The supermarket is predicting that Black Friday, which is today will be the heaviest shopping day of the year.

Deals across the stores, often on large packs and heavy items such as a 7kg whole leg of ham and five litre kegs of beer, are expected to increase the weight of shoppers’ bags significantly.

As part of Morrisons’ ‘Here To Help’ initiative, the store will have a dedicated strong-person, who will be available throughout the day to lift heavy loads and help customers carry particularly heavy items to their cars.

Once they’ve paid for their shopping, customers who need help getting their shopping bags to their cars can stop by at the store’s customer service desk, which will put out a tannoy call for the store’s strong-person to come and assist them.

Andrew Whelan, Morrisons Winsford Store Manager, said: “With this week likely to be our heaviest of the year, our customers may need help carrying large items to their cars, so we will be offering our strongest shopkeepers to help carry the load.”
