CHESHIRE Search and Rescue Team, which has helped to find two missing people from Winsford this year, scooped a Cheshire Police award for volunteering.

The 60-strong team won the Volunteers of the Year Award at a ceremony for the Awards for Cheshire Excellence (ACE) on Thursday, September 15.

The search and rescue team has assisted Cheshire Police with 14 search and rescues so far this year, two of them being successful searches for missing people from Winsford in April.

A spokesman for the group said: “We’re extremely proud and honoured for the whole team to receive this amazing award from Cheshire Police for Volunteers of the Year. All 60 of us thank you for this award and the fantastic support of Cheshire Police.”
