MEADOWBANK Methodist Chapel, built in 1897, will be demolished and replaced with mobile storage units.

The old Winsford chapel, in School Lane, is set to be demolished after permission was granted from Cheshire West and Chester Council.

Applicant Andrew Turner submitted an application to the council to demolish the derelict chapel, stating it was in a ‘poor and unsafe condition.’ A statement submitted by Mr Turner said: “We would appreciate a go ahead on the planning to demolish the building as soon as possible due to the poor and unsafe condition of it.”

The chapel will be demolished and the perimeter will then be fenced with 9ft x 8ft Palestine aluminium fence panels.

Containerised storage units standing at 8ft high will then be put on the site and the remaining area will be paved with tarmac.

The containers are 8ft high in green and at the moment we have no plans to store any higher. The public will have 24 hour access through a locked gate at times to suit.
