BRAIN injury charity shop Headway in Winsford has celebrated a successful first year in the town and has thanked the community for the ‘exceptional’ support.
Headway opened in Dingle Walk Shopping Centre in Winsford a year ago by family support worker and brain injury survivor Joanne Atkinson, 49.
Shop manager Tina Cheswick has since been overwhelmed with the community spirit that has kept the shop thriving.
Staff held birthday celebrations on Thursday, July 14, with cake sales and a tombola.
Tina said: "It is the incredible support we have received, and continue to receive, from the local neighbourhood that has transformed our little shop into a real community hub for brain injury support, work experience and social development."
"We would like to thank everyone our exceptionally loyal volunteers, everyone who has donated stock, including ASDA and the Pound Shop for donating carrier bags, Northwich Auctions for selling items for us, and Northwich Guardian for donating old papers to wrap our bric-a-brac.
"The real community spirit has meant we can reach out and support more families living with the devastating effects of brain injury."
The shop will now be open Sundays from 11am to 3pm, thanks to the dedication of volunteers Jane, Alan and Joyce.
To donate stock or volunteer, please call shop manager Tina Cheswick on 01606 552578 or visit the store at Unit 32, Dingle Walk Shopping Centre, Winsford.
