CHILDREN and staff at Darnhall Primary School dressed up as their favourite wild animals to raise money for the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).

Darnhall Primary School, in Darnhall School Lane, was transformed into a safari on Friday, May 27.

Pupils and teachers dressed as wild animals for a ‘Wear it Wild Day’ and raised more than £100 for the charity.

Vicki Healey, teaching assistant at Darnhall Primary School, said: “The idea came from WWF. It was their event and we sent off for the information and decided to take part and raise some money for the charity.

“It was a lot of fun and we also taught the children about wild and endangered animals.

“They really loved it. A lot of them made their own costumes and a lot of them were quite warm because they’d came in onesies.”
