AN elderly woman from Winsford has died after being pulled out of the River Weaver at Winsford Marina.


Emergency services were called to the marina in Stocks Hill at 12.19pm on Monday, November 9, after a woman was spotted in the water.


Five police cars and an ambulance were at the scene and the 82-year-old woman was pulled out of the water and sent to Leighton Hospital in an ambulance where she later died.


A spokesperson for Cheshire Police confirmed that there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of the woman. 


The spokesperson said: "At 12.19pm on Monday, November 9, emergency services were called to Winsford Marina in Stocks Hill following reports of an elderly woman in the water.


“An 82-year-old woman from Winsford was taken to hospital but sadly died.


“There are no suspicious circumstances and a file is being prepared for the coroner.”
