WINSFORD Over Allotments has been named the second best plot in the north west.
The allotments, at Moss Bank, Winsford, came runner-up in a competition run by the North West Counties Allotment Association.
The plot-holders received a certificate, and a £50 gardening voucher for their success.
John Malam, chairman of Over Allotments Association, said: “As Over Allotments was the only site in the whole of Cheshire to be recognised, we can say we’re the ‘Pride of Cheshire’.”
The North West Counties Allotment Association is open to all counties, and they award six of the region’s best allotment sites.
John added: “We’ve known for a long time that we have a good site
“It’s great to find out that others think so, too."
First place was awarded to an allotment site in Trafford. The other runners-up were from Preston, Bolton and Salford.
