A TEEN Lego fanatic is hoping to build on his achievements following missing out on making the final of an international stop-motion video competition.

Jamie Pimblett, 13, made his first stop-motion video when he was ten, after learning how to do it online.

The talented youngster took hundreds of photos and then used Windows Movie Maker to tie everything together.

Jamie’s dad Ken said: “I was stunned because I did not think he could do something like that.

“I had set up the computer and the surroundings and he did all the stop-motion stuff. I was really proud.”

After the initial experiment, Jamie found inspiration from classic rock after watching a number of concerts with his dad.

When Jamie was 11, the two went to see The Classic Rock Show featuring the Pink Floyd tribute band Brit Floyd.

Jamie fell in love with Brit Floyd and has made two videos based on them.

These videos have racked up more than 10,000 views on YouTube between them.

Ken said: “We went to a Brit Floyd gig and were invited backstage — it has taken off from there really.

“All of the band know him. They call him the Lego Kid.”

Jamie’s latest video is a Lego rendition of classic rock anthem Here I Go Again, by Whitesnake.

The video, which took three days to make and features around 600 still images, was entered into an international Lego stop-motion-video competition.

Whitesnake lead singer David Coverdale gave the project his blessing after Ken reached out on Twitter.

Ken said: “He sent us a message to say he would love to see it.

“He said his favourite song was Here I Go Again, so we did that. We sent him a link afterwards and he said ‘Brilliant, well done’.”

Jamie said: “It felt really, really good and it has definitely spurned me on to carry on and keep improving.

“I think for my next one I want to move away from music videos and make a short, funny film. I hope I can make some money.”
