YOUNGSTERS from a Winsford preschool decided to treat their mums to a spot of afternoon tea to show their appreciation this Mother’s Day.

Children at St Andrews Pre-School and Playgroup,in Winsford, found a lovely way to thank their mums on Mother's Day with a week-long celebration.

Much to their delight, all through the week mums were able to take a seat and enjoy being spoiled for once, as the children hosted their very own afternoon tea.

Tracey Colley said: “It was lovely to see the interaction between the children and the staff, such a superb idea – I thoroughly enjoyed it.”

Tracey’s daughter, Grace Murray, 3, said: “Today I’ve been a waiter for my mummy at afternoon tea and a big girl.”

Sandwiches, scones and cakes were carefully selected by each child and proudly served to their mums.

The children used china teapots to pour and serve their mum’s choice of ‘tea’ – either apple juice or blackcurrant juice.

The children also made their own beautiful invitations inside Mother's Day cards previously and they were all so excited for the week ahead.

Macy Richards, 4, said she enjoyed treating her mummy on her special day. She was also rather fond of the sandwiches and cakes on offer.

She said: “I really liked serving the food on the plates myself and eating it too.”

Preschool manager Kate Jackson, who organised the events, praised the children for their commendable efforts.

“This has been a wonderful opportunity for parents to come into the setting and enjoy some special time with their children,” she said.

“We have had fantastic participation from all involved and the children have revelled in the responsibility of waiting on their mums and serving them real food and drink.”

Places are available at the Pre-School and Playgroup on Dingle Lane for children aged 2-5 years old.
