A TESTICULAR cancer survivor from Winsford and his fiancé who were told they may never be able to have children are celebrating the birth of their daughter.

Rob Curzon, 35, from Winsford, was diagnosed with testicular cancer in November 2012, and had immediate surgery to remove one of his testicles.

The property developer began chemotherapy in January 2013 and was advised by doctors not to try for any children with his fiancé with his fiancée, Courtney White.

“We were asked not to try for any children for 12 months as doing so could be dangerous for our baby as chemotherapy is a radioactive poison,” Rob said.

“We were really upset to hear this as we had already had previous miscarriages.

“Also not actually knowing of how far the cancer had actually spread and if I would make it 12 months meant we may not be able to have a baby.”

The pair chose to not to reveal baby’s sex and on December 9 the proud couple welcomed their baby daughter into the world.

Rob said: “Just over a year later my girlfriend became pregnant and earlier this month she gave birth to our beautiful daughter Ruby Emma Curzon.

“We are over the moon to have this little bundle of joy.”

Courtney found out she was pregnant the first time the day before Rob had his operation, but sadly lost the baby shortly after.

She said: “Knowing we couldn't try for a year or maybe never really broke me as I have always wanted to be a mother.”

Courtney realised she was pregnant again shortly after the chemotherapy had worn off and admits to feeling uneasy at every scan the pair attended.

“Now holding baby Ruby in my arms makes all the waiting worthwhile,” she said.

“I love my family to pieces and can't imagine how things could have been, so different and so tragic. I am so grateful for everyday I spend with my fiancé and my precious daughter.

“Ruby was born into the world with the Union J song, You Got It All, which fits so well as I now have it all – everything I've always wanted.”
