IT’S a case of like mother like daughter for two award winning weight loss champions.

Winsford’s Paula Millar and mum Beryl Munnerley, of Weaverham, have been named Slimming World’s ‘women of the year’ for shedding pounds and helping others achieve their target weights.

“We’re both absolutely delighted,” said Paula, 50, of Nixon Drive.

“My motivation was my daughter. She was getting married and I didn’t want to be a frumpy mum at the wedding.

“Knowing how well my mum had been doing spurred me on.”

Paula lost more than three stone in just 33 weeks at Wharton Library Slimming World, while Beryl, 71, has progressively shed more than six stone over the past few years at Rudheath Slimming World.

Their awards recognise their own weight loss success and the enthusiasm and encouragement that they’ve shown fellow slimmers.

Both are involved with Slimming World’s image therapy, which is about building and maintaining self confidence and encouraging members to share what weight loss techniques work for one another.

“Everyone gets a healthy eating plan. It’s surprising how much you are allowed to eat and no food is off limits,” said Paula, who dropped from a size 16 to a ten by dieting on pasta and rice dishes, as well as fresh fruit and salads.

“I feel fantastic,” added the mother of five. “I have more energy than I used to and do a lot of work at the gym now.

“I’ve lost a bit more than I thought I would and it’s become a case of ‘mum, can I borrow your clothes?’ which I never thought would happen.

“The hard part now is to stay focussed and keep the weight off. I’m really enjoying the new me.”

Paula’s group meets at 9.30am at Wharton Library on a Thursday.
