WILLOW Wood Primary School pupils in Winsford were some of the first to experience Cheshire Wildlife Trust’s new farm-based nature centre.

Year five pupils visited the £120,000 project supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, which has seen a 100 year old former dairy milking barn transformed into a purpose-built centre of classrooms and facilities for visiting schoolchildren.

The opening marks the first time since the charity took on Bickley Hall Farm in 2007 that visiting youngsters will have an all-weather teaching facility, including indoor washrooms, disabled access and a kitchen.

The latest technology also means neighbouring wildlife can be beamed by wireless cameras directly into the centre and big-screens can bring microscopic creatures in the farm’s ponds to life.

Enquiries for the centre can be made by calling 01948 820728 or info@cheshirewt.org.uk.
