A WINSFORD actor is in the frame for a glittering career after swapping Cheshire for the Big Apple.

Former Verdin High School pupil, Liam Haynes, is making a name for himself in New York – being cast in an Off-Broadway production and appearing alongside Bruno Mars.

The 27-year-old is settling into life stateside after overcoming the initial trepidation of pursuing his dream abroad.

“My career has is definitely on the right track and I have received international recognition, which is what every actor wants,” said Liam, who grew up in Byley Way and Wharton.

“Of course, the initial move is always daunting but I have always loved a challenge and home is only ever a flight away.”

After performing in various shows at the Chester Gateway Theatre, Liam moved to London and then New York, where he got his first high-profile – but fairly odd – paid work.

“My first US gig was launching a billboard in Times Square dressed in a strange alien suit,” explained the former John Deane’s College pupil.

“I have also worked and taken classes in Los Angeles. My most recent projects have been playing both Silvius and Adam in an Off Broadway production of 'As You Like It' and playing a leading role in a music video for an Italian music group, Montecarlo Fire, on their track, ‘Cerca’.”

Liam recently starred in a video for American musician, Matthew Koma, as well as appearing alongside Bruno Mars in an MTV Video Music Awards promotion.

After working with the prestigious Weinstein Company studious in LA, and entering talks with various Hollywood agents, Liam’s looking forward to the chapter of his American adventure.

He added: “I have been lucky enough to meet the most amazing and inspiring people and I am incredibly grateful. I'm excited for what the future has in store.”
