A PETITION urging politicians to look at creating a ‘second Cheshire Ring’ on the canal network in Winsford is gathering pace.
The scheme to create an inclined plane between the River Weaver and Shropshire Union Canal near Winsford has now attracted 400 signatures.
The petition, which can be found at change.org, supports the hopes of local businessmen, councillors and waterways experts who are backing hopes to carry tourists between the two watercourses on a new boat lift that would complete a Weaver Valley Ring linking Northwich, Winsford and Middlewich.
Guardian readers are urged to join those who have already signed the petition, which aims to highlight its potential tourism benefits to decision makers in Whitehall.
