A MIDDLEWICH business is celebrating raising £23,000 for charity through a succession of sporty fundraising events this summer.

A team of volunteers from Pochins PLC took on the gruelling Anglesey Assault, a two-day climbing, kayaking and cycling course that raised a total of £13,000 for The Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester.

The event was closely followed Pochin’s annual Gold Gala day at The Mere County Club which attracted 240 attendees and raised £10,000 for the Ronald McDonald House charity.

Jonathan Pochin at Pochin’s PLC said: “Both The Christie and the Ronald McDonald House Charity are fantastic causes that embody many of Pochin’s shared values. The exemplary work that each charity does for families in need continue to inspire us, and we are grateful that we were able to aid their efforts with a fun-packed few days.”

Pochin is a strong supporter of The Christie, and has raised over £150,000 for the Manchester hospital over the last 20 years. In addition the Golf Gala Day and Dinner has become a key event in the property world’s social calendar, and has raised an impressive £200,000 for North West charities.

The Ronald McDonald House Charity purchases and funds the long-term upkeep of houses in close proximity to hospitals, enabling the families of young patients to stay close by while they undergo treatment.

The money donated to The Christie will go specifically to its On The Road to Recovery campaign, which is aiming to raise £1 million by April 2014 to purchase a mobile chemotherapy vehicle for the North West region.
