POLICE are urging scam victims to speak up in the wake of rumours that a number of ‘distraction thefts’ have occurred in Middlewich town centre recently.
There have been no official reports of the incident made to the police but Kerrie Snowdon, Community Sergeant of Middlewich, urged anyone affected to contact the police immediately.
Sgt Snowdon said: "If someone feels that they have been victim to this scam, which often involves being persuaded to buy fake jewellery by people in the street, they should report it to us on 101 so we can get a true picture of the issue if incidents of this nature have been occurring in Middlewich."
