A WOMAN who was trying to diffuse an argument in Winsford was subjected to racist slurs.

Police have released E-fit images of two women they would like to speak to in relation to the racially aggravated public order offence.

Shortly before 1am on Sunday, July 23, the 38-year-old woman was walking along Crook Lane.

When she reached the junction of Crook Lane and Wharton Road, she spotted two teenage girls having an argument in the street.

As she approached the two girls, she advised them to calm down, whereupon one of the girls subjected her to racially offensive comments.

PC Matthew Stenton said: "Hate crime is taken very seriously by the Constabulary and an investigation is underway.

"If you recognise the people described in the E-fits, we would urge you to contact police so that we can further our enquiries."
