I AM researching my family and discovered that my great great great grandfather, Richard Garnett, lived and died at The Cloughs, which was in or near Clough Wood, Greenbank.
I visited the area this week and found evidence of buildings and flat areas. If any historians could throw more light on this I would be grateful, or the owners of the house itself that my great great great grandparents would have lived in or the cottages around.
Richard ended up as a navigation labourer and his wife Elizabeth as a laundress.
