AS I am standing down in this May’s Cheshire West and Chester Council elections for personal reasons I wanted to take the opportunity of thanking the electors of Winnington and Castle Ward for allowing me to represent them.

It has been an honour to serve them as well as the Bridge Ward of Northwich Town Council and while I recognise and hear it often myself regarding the growing cynicism people have towards politics – often aimed at Westminster politicians – I still believe the majority of those representing or seeking to represent us do so for the best of reasons.

Nonetheless their accountability to us is only weakened if we fail to vote when the chance is offered us.

So please use your vote.
