I NOTED with interest your article in the Northwich Guardian on Barons Quay and your interview with Cllr Sam Naylor on the BBC Radio 4 piece on Northwich and Altrincham.

I also heard the broadcast and I think that Ruth Alexander’s real point was that Altrincham had succeeded because they had listened to the views of local people whereas Cheshire West and Chester Council had not and that consequently they built the wrong scheme.

Sam Naylor suggests that the failure of Barons Quay was due to the financial crisis but that was 10 years ago.

There were many local residents (including myself) who tried in vain to get CWAC to change direction with Barons Quay before the scheme actually commenced but we were ignored.

However, we are where we are and we must now do everything possible to see Barons Quay occupied and it is pleasing to note that CWAC is now beginning to make some progress but there is still a long haul ahead.

I do hope those at CWAC will listen to the people in relation to Weaver Square before another expensive mistake is made.
