It is entirely appropriate for our local MP, Mike Amesbury, to call for the resignation of the Principal of Warrington and Vale Royal College.
He is, after all, reflecting the shock and dismay of many in the Northwich area that news the former Mid Cheshire College is to be effectively demolished – including its state of the art facilities – to make way for yet another private housing development in Hartford.
Many see the college’s decision as entirely at odds with assurances given when it transferred.
As to the £1m the previous college principal confirmed had been given by the council to the Hartford campus, is there not now a moral if not a legal obligation to give that back and should not this be used to exclusively ensure students from the Northwich area are supported to travel the extra distance and courses of their choice are maintained?
