Aymeric Laporte believes Manchester City’s Wembley clash with Chelsea is just one of many “finals” they face in pursuit of an unprecedented quadruple.

City are bidding to claim the season’s first piece of silverware in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday but the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup are also in their sights.

City defender Laporte said: “All the matches that we have from now until the end of the season are finals. We will try to win them all and try to achieve our objectives.”

City, the Carabao Cup holders and Premier League champions, are heavy favourites this weekend after thrashing Chelsea 6-0 when the sides last met at the Etihad Stadium a fortnight ago.

Chelsea’s season has unravelled in recent weeks, with manager Maurizio Sarri under heavy pressure but Laporte does not think people should be writing off the Londoners.

The 24-year-old said: “I think that people are mistaken. Their results recently haven’t been good but they have a great squad, great players and they have shown that they know how to play good football.

“They have a great team and we have to concentrate on ourselves, do our things well and hopefully we will.

“We are expecting a very difficult match, very physical and we have to play at our best level if we are to win.”
