LEADERS Chester survived a scare on Saturday as they came from behind to defeat relegation-threatened Harrogate Railway Athletic, writes Tom Snee.

Chris Simm scored twice to rescue the table-toppers, leaving them seven points clear at the summit.

Skelmersdale United remain in second spot after Shaun Tuck’s goal helped them to a slender success at Witton Albion.

Elsewhere there were wins for Chorley and AFC Fylde at the expense of Cammell Laird and Trafford respectively.

Curzon Ashton were the only members of the standings’ top five to drop points after they were held 2-2 at home to Bamber Bridge.

It looks increasingly bleak for Leigh Genesis at the bottom following their defeat at Salford City, while Radcliffe Borough bolstered their chances of finishing outside of the drop zone after winning at Warrington Town.

Ossett Albion are in trouble though after a 4-0 home thrashing against Lancaster City.

Clitheroe shared six goals with Garforth Town, while Prescot Cables came from two-goals down to pinch a point off Woodley Sports.

Durham City defeated Mossley in the other game.
