Match Pointers
WITTON Albion manager Gary Finley is sweating on the fitness of defensive duo Paul Booth (ankle) and Carl Ruffer (thigh) after both limped out of Tuesday’s UniBond League President’s Cup win over Market Drayton Town.

Dylan Adams and Brian Pritchard, both recalled to the starting line-up for the 2-0 win, stand by.

Albion will wait until the last minute to decide on the participation of Mike Moseley, who continues to struggle with a groin complaint, so newcomer Carl Lamb could partner Steve Foster in attack.

A place in the first round proper – where a potential date with one of the Blue Square Premier’s top teams awaits – is motivation enough, according to Finley.

Chairman Mark Harris will no doubt have his thoughts on a potential £4,000 top-up to the £7,300 prize money Albion’s three victories in the competition to date have earned.

It’s a truth that will not have escaped Mark Atkins on the Matlock bench.

He expects around half a dozen players to shake off niggles to face Witton, chief among them 14-goals UniBond Premier Division top scorer Ross Hannah.

He sat out the midweek Derbyshire Senior Cup win over Mickleover Sports to nurse a groin strain.

Defensive trio Lee Featherstone (knee), Mark Haran (hamstring) and James Lukic (back) should be passed fit to play too.
