NORTHWICH racer Ian Loggie will have to wait until the final round to secure his first British GT Title, writes Ste McNorton.

The penultimate round at Brands Hatch, which saw him link up with Callum McLeod after regular partner Joules Gounon withdrew with a back injury, would see the championship leader finish off the podium in sixth.

Saturday qualifying did not go to plan, with the other title contenders showing they were not taking things lying down.

Each driver had two 10-minute sessions, with Loggie and McLeod finishing in fifth position overall ahead of for Sunday’s endurance race.

Race day would see an early morning fog which soon cleared to a lovely sunny day and great conditions.

At lights out, Loggie’s No6 Mercedes lost a place to the No72 Barwell Motorsport Lamborghini but Loggie then settled down and held position till around lap 11, when he lost a couple more places.

The race was fairly eventful for the RAM Racing car, but points were important and they were fighting for them all.

The car would come home in sixth position – not the result they wanted, but Loggie still holds a decent lead in the championship.

The series will now head to Donington in October for the decider.
