LOSTOCK Gralam and Middlewich Town will contest the Mid-Cheshire FA Cup final.

Both sides won their respective semi-finals yesterday to book their place in the final on a date to be confirmed.

The Grey Lambs, who have held the trophy since 2017, edged past neighbours Winnington Avenue 94 at Moss Farm in a tightly-contested affair.

Jack Woolley's goal on the stroke of half time proved the difference between the sides as he latched onto Jacob Stretch's pass and lobbed the onrushing keeper to finish a neat move.

"It was an important win to make sure we got to the final and give ourselves the opportunity to defend the cup," Lostock co-manager Dean Jones said.

"We knew Winnington would throw everything at us and that it would be a physical game. We weren’t at our best but credit to Winnington for making it tough.

"The lads dug in and scored a really well worked goal – that bit of quality was enough to decide the game.

"Now we’ve got our first cup final to look forward to and taking on Middlewich makes it extra special – it’s guaranteed to be a cracking game."

The Witches had to come from behind to win their last-four tie as they won 4-2 against Winnington Avenue 94 Reserves.

Ste Hughes scored twice for the hosts at Seddon Street, with Callum Priestley and Joe Pointon also on the scoresheet.

Winnington's goals came from Callum Herbert and Will Bentley.
