A DANCER wanting to share his love of ballroom and Latin dancing has launched a dance-themed fitness class in Winsford.

Mark Farrugia, who has competed at the prestigious Winter Gardens ballroom in Blackpool, used to drive a security van delivering money until he lost his job.

He then decided to turn his passion into a business and encourage others to get fit while learning some dance moves.

Mark said he first took dance classes after he was talked into it, but soon fell in love with the sport and began competing.

"It's my wife who wanted to do it and I tagged along and went for a few dance lessons," he said.

"When I got made redundant from work and I was applying for jobs, I couldn't get anything.

"I thought, 'I've got these dance skills, so what can I do with them?'."

Mark started to put on classes in the evening to test it out, and is now offering classes across Cheshire, including at Hazelmere (Extra Care Housing) in Hambleton Way, Winsford.

Strictly Dance Fit takes place between 11.30am and 12:15pm and costs £5.

The main dance styles include the rumba, cha cha cha, samba, jive, salsa, mambo, Merengue, Bachata, Paso Doble, and occasionally the Argentine tango, Viennese waltz and waltz.
