MIDDLEWICH Town Reserves manager Chris Thomas knew his side’s luck would change – and it certainly did on Saturday.

A 4-2 victory over their Golborne Sports counterparts puts them in pole position to finish top of their Cheshire Reserve League Cup group with one game remaining.

Keelan Darlington, Alex Townhill, Sam Fallows and Robbie Leigh were all on the scoresheet as the Witches came from behind, with Thomas hailing a well-deserved victory.

“For the last few weeks, we’ve been playing superb football but conceding unfortunate goals and not being able to convert our chances.

“We knew our luck had to change at some point and thankfully, that was Saturday.

“We were completely dominant and controlled the game from start to finish – it was just our luck that the two chances we gave Golborne, they converted.

“We were aggressive, controlled the tempo and created some good chances.

“Hopefully we can take it into next week and look to kick on from here.”

Thomas’ side welcome to Styal Reserves to Seddon Street on Saturday, kick off 2pm.
