WINSFORD Saxons football team have a huge fixture tomorrow night, Thursday.

The current Crewe and District League champions visit Northern Premier League outfit Nantwich Town at Weaver Stadium in the Crewe and District FA Cup.

“It is a massive achievement for a club of our stature to play at such an established club in the cup,” said Saxons manager Gary Lee Jamieson.

“After I took over in the summer this is arguably one of the biggest tests for our new squad.”

Kick-off at Weaver Stadium is 7pm and admission is free.

 

WINSFORD United manager Lee Duckworth was sent off as the Blues went down 3-1 at Squires Gate on Tuesday night.

The red card was shown late on, a decision of the linesman.

On the field, United took a 1-0 lead through Wealth Da Silva in the ninth minute James Boyd levelled matters seven minutes later with the first of his hat-trick of strikes.

Boyd finished Winsford off in the 69th and 80th minutes.

Blues, whose Saturday game against Barnoldswick Town was called off due to a sodden pitch, host Litherland REMYCA on Saturday, Whitchurch Alport on Boxing Day and Irlam on Saturday, December 28.

For all home homes in December, Winsford United say it is a show of appreciation that they are offering free entry to NHS staff (on production of NHS staff-id card).

 

MIDDLEWICH Town climbed to sixth place in the Cheshire League Premier Division on the back of a 6-2 home win against Eagle Sports.

Steven Hughes scored a hat-trick, while Eagle had Nicholas Chambers and Lee Boardman sent off.

Town’s next game is at FC St Helens on Saturday, December 28.
