Mid Cheshire League: In the Premier Division Castle Sports A extended their lead over Wharton Cons A to 18 chalks after a 227-178 victory at Wharton Cons B on Friday, while Cons A recorded a 211-163 victory at Hop Pole.

With only 4 games remaining in the league a lot seems to hinge on the clash at Wharton between the two sides on Sunday. Red Lion remain top of the Premier Division courtesy of playing a game more.

In Section One, Crosstown A lead the way and seem on track to return to the Premier Division at the first attempt.

A close fight between Helsby A and Owley Wood A is on the cards to secure the second promotion slot.

With only one game remaining in Section Two, the title has been secured by Owley Wood B with Comberbach C almost guaranteed promotion alongside them.

Section Three sees Great Budworth with a chance to take the champion’s title in their first year in the league.

Lostock Graylams still have a chance of pipping them to the title should they get a good result in their game in hand.

Castle Sports C look to have wrapped up the title in Section Four with only one game remaining, while Crowton look likely to join them in the higher division next year if they can get a good result in the final game of the season at home to Rudheath D this Friday.

Norley B look on course to claim the title in Section Five after recording a full house away to Hartford B, while Tarporley B look set to join them in Section Four next year.

Norman Cup: Rudheath were unsuccessful in their attempt to win the Norman Cup at Runcorn Sports Club.
