WINSFORD Cricket Club secured just their third league win of the season on Saturday.

An excellent all-round display helped them win at Kerridge and move up to eighth in Division Four of the UKFast Cheshire Cricket League.

Skipper Craig Webb elected to bat first having won the toss and after the early loss of David Potts, he and Anthony Ollier put on 84 for the second wicket to kickstart the Winsford innings.

Ollier eventually fell for 75 while Webb scored 49 as Winsford set their hosts a target of 212 for victory.

Webb then took charge with the ball as his figures of 3-21 helped to dismiss Kerridge for 129 in reply.

James Tierney also claimed three wickets, Colin Dean took two while there was a scalp each for Mark Sergeant and Andrew Etchells as Winsford won by 82 runs.

Winsford aim to continue their form when they host Bowdon Vale on Saturday.

In Division Two, Middlewich’s batting let them down as promotion-chasing Hawk Green visited Haddon Field.

They had won the toss but captain Nick Gill’s decision to set a target backfired as only four batsmen reached double figures.

Joel Faun (25), Phil Parry (24) and James Baxter (20) were the only players to provide real resistance as the hosts were bundled out for just 105.

Despite Matt Ryan claiming two early wickets, Hawk Green reached their target easily to record an eight-wicket victory.

Middlewich will be hoping for better when they make the return trip to Hawk Green on Saturday.
