WINSFORD Swim Team members have been invited to perform on the national stage later this summer as a reward for their performances in the pool.

Seven teenagers have clocked times that makes them eligible to race against the best of the rest in the country.

"It's an achievement that is testament to many weeks, months and years of hard work," said head coach Dan Goodwin.

"I'm sure every one of them will leave no stone unturned during the build-up to make sure they are ready."

Three of them - Izzy Kay, Jay Cushen and Will Murray - will travel north for the British Summer Championships at Tollcross ISC in Glasgow.

Kay will contest the under 15s girls' 200m butterfly, while Murray is a contender in the under 18s boys' 50m breaststroke.

Meanwhile Cushen has qualified for two butterfly events, over 50m and 100m, in the under 16s boys' age-group category.

He will even busier at the Swim England National Summer Meet in Sheffield the following week after making the grade in six classes: 50m, 100m, 400m and 800m freestyle, 50m breaststroke and 200m individual medley.

Kay is in action again too in the 100m butterfly.

They are joined at Ponds Forge by Winsford teammates Jonny Mullett (under 16s boys' 100m freestyle), Ethan Jones (under 17s boys' 50m and 100m backstroke), Henry Oliver (under 17s boys' 1,500m freestyle) and Finn Armitt (under 17s boys' 200m butterfly).

Goodwin added: "With what's ahead we are about to enter an extremely important training phase with so many races to come.

"Whatever happens, these swimmers deserve our congratulations for qualifying."
