RIDERS from Weaver Valley Cycling Club made an impression during the latest Manchester and District Ladies’ Cycling Association 10-mile time trial near Cranage on Saturday.
Emily Martin was only four seconds off the pace, finishing as runner-up in 25:09, while Claire Harrison (Pro Vision Cycle Clothing) topped the standings.
Meanwhile Lynsey Astles (26:42) and Carol Robson (27:56) both recorded a personal-best time for the distance.
Weaver Valley’s Sam Taylor classified second in the men’s invitational race, clocking 22:10, after victor Joseph Dobson (Manchester Bicycle Club) had set the standard with 21:34.
Dave Walker (22:51), Paul Connor (23:32) and Dan Robson (26:15) were in action too.
Meanwhile Walker had put in a season-best performance during Buxton Cycling Club’s 10-mile time trial less than 48 hours earlier after stopping the clock in 21:13.
That was enough to secure for him second spot on the night behind Ben Norbury (Congleton CC) who completed the course in 20:25 on a warm and breezy evening.
Taylor (21:23) wasn’t far behind both of them, while Astles (26:42) was fourth of the women to reach the finish.
