GEORGE Hyde will lead Cheshire's challenge when he attempts to win a third gold medal at the English Schools' Track and Field Championships next week.

The Sir John Deane's College student took the inter boys' shot title in 2016 before repeating the trick 12 months later.

He a was runner-up last summer after moving into the next age-group category.

Meanwhile Holly Weedall, from Weaverham High School, hopes to continue a rich vein of form that saw her crowned county champion in the junior girls' 1,500m before she prevailed in Cheshire's colours over the same distance at last month's Mason Trophy meet.

She returned from Birmingham with a bronze medal after making her debut at the national schools' championships in 2018.

Alex Doyle (Sir John Deane's College) is another that travels down the M6 with a county title to his name after winning the senior boys' 1,500m at Warrington.

Vale Royal Athletics Club teammate Holly Smith can be confident too after an encouraging track season that has seen her lower previous bests over both 1,500m and 3,000m.

She also narrowly missed out on a medal over the longer distance at last year's event, finishing fourth.

Evie Tipping, a hammer thrower from The Grange School, is the reigning Cheshire club and schools' champion in her age-group category.
